Principal's Message

George White Elementary School Mission

The fundamental purpose of George White Elementary School is to ensure that ALL students learn at high levels.

At the heart of George White Elementary School is a passion to ensure students feel safe, known, and cared for!  We know that in order to learn at high levels, students must first feel connected.  Once they do, then they can learn deeply.

Our Teaching Teams work hard to hone their craft, always learning, always improving, and always collaborating to sharpen and challenge each other.  The question is always, “What is best for student learning?”.

George White is a PBIS School (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports).  This means that we have identified expected behaviors and  we teach, reward and recognize students when they are showing improvement and mastery!

PRIDE = Positive Words and Action, Responsibility, Integrity, Demonstrate Safety, and Excellent Effort

Each month, we focus on one of our PRIDE Character Traits.  We help students understand and relate to this trait through the quote of the week, stories, lessons and projects connected to this trait and reward students when they demonstrate that trait.  At the end of each month, students who have exemplified this trait on a regular basis are selected and recognized as our Students of the Month during our Thursday morning Spirit Assembly!  George White is so proud of our students for striving to demonstrate PRIDE every day!

Our teaching teams are laser focused on developing our students' social emotional, academic and behavior skills.  They are working collaboratively to ensure we know all players by name and by need.  Teams have identified the most important standards.  All standards are important, but a few rise to the level of a priority because they are foundational to future learning and in life.  Our teams work together to identify and deliver best teaching practices for student learning.  They then determine which students need further instruction or extended learning.

In order to meet student needs, we have developed WIN TIME!  What I Need (WIN) time is designed to meet all students where they are.  This year, we are focusing on the standard that spans all grade levels:  Students will read with accuracy and fluency in order to achieve comprehension.  All students participate in WIN with targeted instruction for their particular need.  WIN time happens 4 times per week for 30  minutes.  Our goal is for all students to read at or above grade level expectation by the end of the year.

We love our KNIGHTS - Past, present and future!  It is a place for students to grow academically, socially and behaviorally.  We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with our parents in raising our next generation of leaders!  We are so proud to be the KNIGHTS!

KNIGHTS show our PRIDE when we:  use POSITIVE words and actions, show RESPONSIBILITY, act with INTEGRITY, DEMONSTRATE SAFETY, and give EXCELLENT EFFORT!

Every Knight, Every Day, Every Moment Matters!
