Principal's Message

Dear George White Community,

I am thrilled to share that this past year George White Elementary has met or nearly met all of its strategic goals, a powerful reflection of the commitment, collaboration, and passion of our teaching staff and leadership team.

This year’s success is anchored in strong gains in literacy (more than 10% growth), sustained high achievement in math (jumping 4% and in the top tier of other CUSD elementary schools), and a continued focus on cultivating a safe, inclusive, and supportive school climate (85% of students feel connected at George White). Our students are not only growing academically but also developing the social and emotional skills needed to thrive.

Looking ahead, we’re guided by thoughtful, evidence-based recommendations to strengthen progress monitoring, deepen intervention and extension strategies, and expand our work in social-emotional learning (SEL). These next steps will help sustain and accelerate our momentum into the 2025–26 school year.

By using data to inform instruction, closing fidelity gaps, and nurturing the whole child, George White is well-positioned for even greater success in years to come. Our unwavering commitment to continuous improvement will propel us toward our shared vision of “all students learning at high levels.” Every George White Knight deserves, and will receive, the opportunity to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

At the heart of George White is a deep belief:  Students must feel safe, known, and cared for in order to learn deeply. Connection comes first, and once students feel that sense of belonging, incredible learning follows.

Our dedicated teaching teams are constantly learning, reflecting, and collaborating to answer one guiding question:  “What is best for student learning?”  They identify the most essential standards, those foundational to future academic success and life, and work as a team to deliver high-quality instruction and personalized support thinking about each child “by name, by need”.

We are proud to be a Gold Medal recognized PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) school. Through this framework, we teach, model, and celebrate behaviors aligned with our school-wide expectations:
PRIDE = Positive Words & Actions, Responsibility, Integrity, Demonstrate Safety, Excellent Effort
Each month, we spotlight one PRIDE trait through quotes, lessons, stories, and class projects. Students who consistently demonstrate that trait are honored as Students of the Month during our Thursday morning Spirit Assemblies. We are proud of our students for living out PRIDE every single day!

At George White, we love our KNIGHTS, past, present, and future! This is a school where students grow not only as scholars, but as kind, responsible, and confident individuals. We are honored to partner with our families in shaping the next generation of learners and leaders.
KNIGHTS show their PRIDE when they:

  • Use Positive words and actions
  • Show Responsibility
  • Act with Integrity
  • Demonstrate Safety
  • Give Excellent Effort

Together, we believe:

Quest for Excellence!  Every Knight. Every Day.  Every Moment Matters.
With pride and gratitude,

Mrs. Snedeker
