 School Begins at 7:45 a.m. SHARP!

 

 Flag salute is part of the school day.  Your child is actually late if he/she is not in attendance at flag salute.When a child comes to school late, he or she misses out on that special time before school with classmates, as well as hearing the principal and teacher's opening messages and instructions.   Not only does that child miss valuable learning time, but he/she disrupts the teacher and other students by arriving late.

 

If a child is tardy, he/she must check in through the front office before being admitted to class. Frequent tardiness without a valid excuse is considered truancy under the law.

George White Elementary School strictly enforces attendance and tardy policies as part of our educational philosophy. Pupils are excused if absent because of illness. Absences are considered unexcused if it is not related to illness, medical appointment, or religious holiday.  Children should not be sent to school when they are not feeling well. They will be given ample time to make up work that is missed. Homework can be requested on the second day of a child's absence.  Makeup work will be provided to the student within a 24 hour period unless prior arrangements have been made with the teacher.
